New Taipei City prosecutors have indicted a cram school teacher in Sinjhuang District (新莊) for allegedly soliciting sexual acts from female students under the age of 18 three times in exchange for cash payments.
The man, surnamed Su (蘇), committed two offenses in 2023 and one last year, the New Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office said.
The office in recent days indicted Su for contraventions of the Child and Youth Sexual Exploitation Prevention Act (兒童及少年性剝削防制條例), which prohibits "engaging in sexual intercourse or lewd acts with a minor over the age of 16, but under the age of 18 in exchange for consideration."

The act states Su may be subject to up to three years imprisonment or detention and a fine of up to NT$100,000 if found guilty.
However, as it is believed that the three offenses were committed separately with different criminal intent and under different circumstances, prosecutors said they are seeking a cumulative sentence.
Su was aware that the girls were over 16, but not yet 18, according to the indictment.
Su solicited the girls at the cram school, offering to give them money and paying in cash on-site, it said.
In one female student’s statement, she said that Su knew she needed spending money and offered financial help if she was willing to “satisfy his needs.”
Su denied the student’s allegation, although prosecutors found that the girl had agreed to meet with him due to financial reasons.
Su confessed guilt during the investigation, prosecutors said.
