A red line Kaohsiung Metro train was stopped for almost an hour between stations this afternoon, after the conductor spotted a man on the tracks.
The metro train was heading north toward Kaohsiung Medical University Gangshan Hospital Station when the operator spotted a man in red walking on the tracks in front of the train at 1:16pm, Kaohsiung Metro said.
The conductor promptly stopped the train and saw the man begin walking south along the side of the train, it said.

The conductor reported the incident to the control center and went to the south-side drivers’ cabin, but could no longer spot the man, it said.
The control center cut off electricity to three tracks and did not restore power until the entire section had been thoroughly patrolled, Kaohsiung Metro said.
After no one was found lingering on the tracks, the power was restored at 2:11pm, it said.
The train, which was stopped between stations due to the power cut, arrived at Kaohsiung Medical University Gangshan Hospital Station at 2:15pm and all 40 passengers on board were safe, it said.
It is suspected that the man did not enter from the station, but from the fences on either side of the tracks, Kaohsiung Metro said.
A full investigation would be conducted to see if any fences beside the tracks were damaged, it said.
Arbitrarily entering metro tracks contravenes the Mass Rapid Transit Act (大眾捷運法) and can result in fines from NT$1,500 to NT$7,500, it added.
