Two weapons with traces of DNA from two victims in a suspected triple homicide case have been found at the home of lead suspect Chang Chieh-tsung (張介宗), the Kaohsiung Police Department said today.
In a breakthrough in the case, investigators found a serrated knife — similar to a steak knife sized 20cm by 10cm — with traces of blood that matched the first victim, a 71-year-old woman surnamed Lin (林) from Kaohsiung’s Nanzih District (楠梓), the department’s Forensic Science Center Director Hsieh Tung-ho (謝東和) told a news conference.
The knife’s serrated edge was also consistent with marks found on the victim’s remains, he added.

Additionally, a pair of 20cm-long scissors had traces of blood that were DNA-matched to both the suspect and the second identified victim, a 75-year-old woman from Zuoying District (左營) surnamed Chang (張), he said.
Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to search canals in Cianjhen District (前鎮), after members of the public reported finding what appeared to be human remains floating in the water behind the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center yesterday afternoon, investigators said.
The suspected remains have been sent to the Forensic Science Center for identification, they added.
More than 20 body parts have been recovered so far from the Kaohsiung Port Terminal No. 5 shipping channel and under Jingong Bridge (金鞏橋), they said.
They were identified as belonging to victims Lin and Chang, although no remains have been found for a suspected third victim, they added.
