The Taiwan Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Partnership (THFCP) has signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with four countries during Hyvolution 2025, an international exhibition in Paris focused on hydrogen fuel.
The first MOU was signed on Tuesday with a Ukrainian institution, followed by agreements with France, Poland and Denmark the following day, the partnership said.
Lin Jo-chen (林若蓁), THFCP CEO and deputy director of Taiwan Institute of Economic Research’s (TIER) Research Division I, on Thursday said that the MOUs aim to advance the hydrogen and fuel cell industry, and promote research and development across the integrated supply chain.

The agreements would also facilitate Taiwan and its partners’ applications for international projects and foster exchanges of expertise, she added.
This year was Taiwan’s first time participating in the annual exhibition since its inaugural edition in 2016.
In addition to its pavilion, the THFCP and TIER, representing more than 90 members of the energy alliance, showcased advanced technologies and hydrogen purification, hydrogen energy electrolysis, power-to-gas system integration and energy management solutions.
Highlighting Taiwan’s information and communications technology, manufacturing techniques and research-and-development capabilities, Lin said that Taiwan has “arguably the most comprehensive resources for developing hydrogen fuel cells in the world.”
More than 90 percent of crucial components are made in Taiwan and the country’s designs enable it to quickly absorb various technologies from other countries and manufacture them locally, she said.
However, Taiwan’s small land area and high population density has led to its reliance on imported energy, she said.
To address these challenges, Taiwan is in talks with countries such as Chile and Australia about investing in overseas hydrogen factories to import resources, she said.
Hyvolution is one of the largest European hydrogen energy exhibitions. Last year, more than 10,000 enterprises, experts and government representatives from 82 countries attended.
