Taiwan High-Speed Rail Corp (THSRC) today announced that tickets for 12 additional trains for the Lunar New Year are to go on sale at midnight this Saturday.
Five southbound trains and seven northbound trains are to be added to the trains that would run during the long holiday from Jan. 25 to Feb. 2, the high-speed rail operator said.
Apart from the additional trains, travelers are advised to avoid peak hours by taking the 16 additional late-night trains and two early trains going northbound.

There will be 47 local trains, 10 going southbound and 37 going northbound, running between Nangang station and Taichung station with eight carriages of non-reserved seats each to cater for commuters in northern Taiwan during the long holiday, it said.
With the addition of 380 trains, 205 going southbound and 175 going northbound, the THSRC estimated that there will be a total of 2258 scheduled trains in 12 days.
There will also be two additional trains running northbound on Feb. 8, a make-up day, and tickets can be reserved starting from tomorrow, it said.
Tickets for northbound trains operating from Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 are running out, it said, advising travelers to plan their journey early and reserve their tickets as soon as possible.
