The Ministry of Transportation and Communications today announced three new measures effective from Jan. 1, regarding motorcycle noise pollution, tourism and foreign student internships.
Starting next year, motorcycle owners who replace or modify their exhaust pipes need to use Ministry of Environment-certified parts, then have the modification inspected, certified and registered at their local vehicle office.
This rule was first passed as an amendment to the Road Traffic Security Rules (道路交通安全規則) on Jan. 1 this year, with a one-year buffer period that ends at the end of this year.
