Twenty-four people specializing in agricultural fields are to visit Thailand and Malaysia to conduct agricultural-related exchanges as part of a government-funded program, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday.
The ministry said that the 24 people with expertise in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and animal husbandry would be split into two groups. One would visit Malaysia and the other Thailand from Monday next week to Sept. 1.
They would promote Taiwan’s agricultural competitiveness and participate in exchanges with local counterparts, the ministry said.

The trips would also enhance the young ambassadors’ understanding of ASEAN nations and enhance bilateral cooperation, it said.
The announcement was made during a ceremony at the ministry to officially announce the “Young Agricultural Ambassadors,” who were selected through an open application process.
The ceremony was hosted by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tien Chung-kwang (田中光) and attended by Malaysian Representative Aznifah Ghani and Thai Representative Narong Boonsatheanwong.
The project was launched in 2017 to foster closer exchanges with nations covered by the New Southbound Policy. So far, 114 young ambassadors have visited the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and India.
