Computex attendance surges
Attendance at Computex, which ended on Friday, was 70 percent higher than last year, largely because of the show’s theme and the number of tech stars who attended, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) said in a statement. The annual trade show had 85,179 visitors and buyers over its four-day run, TAITRA said. The main theme of this year’s show, “Connecting AI [artificial intelligence],” was a big hit, as AI computers would be 60 percent of global computer shipments by 2027, it said, citing a forecast by market intelligence provider IDC. Attendance of chief executives from information and communication technology companies was the highest in the history of the expo and their presence and speeches added to the hype, it said.
