EVA Airways on Monday announced year-end bonuses of six months’ pay on average and pay raises for employees, as pilots vote on whether to strike over the upcoming Lunar New Year.
The bonus to be distributed among employees of EVA Air and its subsidiaries marks a record high for the company after a rebound in post-pandemic travel, the company said.
Employees are to also receive a mid-year bonus next year, with the amount to depend on earnings results, it said.

The airline also announced a salary increase starting next year of NT$5,000 on average for ground crew and flight attendants, and between NT$11,000 and NT$20,000 for pilots depending on their position.
The move comes as EVA pilots in the Taoyuan Union of Pilots are voting on whether to strike over the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday over pay disputes and other issues, saying their real wages have fallen more than 10 percent since 2011 due to inflation.
Voting began on Friday last week and the results are expected to be announced on Jan. 5.
Union leaders are to meet on Tuesday to discuss the proposed bonuses and salary hikes, union researcher Chen Po-chien (陳柏謙) said.
The union has been trying to negotiate a long-term solution to pay disputes with the airline since February last year, Chen said, adding that he hopes people would not be misled by the airline’s unilateral announcement into thinking that the two sides have concluded negotiations.
Talent retention, safety and other issues still need to be discussed, he said, adding that further actions would be announced following the conclusion of the strike vote.
The announcement also comes after newcomer Starlux Airlines announced year-end bonuses of one month’s pay.
