People aged 50 to 64 enrolled in the National Health Insurance program are able to get a free seasonal influenza vaccine from today, the Centers for Disease Control said yesterday.
The CDC yesterday reported that 74,743 people visited the doctor with influenza-like symptoms last week.
Although the number declined for the third consecutive week, it is still higher than the same period in the previous four years, the CDC said.

The CDC urged all eligible individuals to get a shot, adding that of the 24 cases of severe complications from influenza reported last week, only one had been vaccinated.
The vaccine program this year is rolling out 6.98 million vaccine doses from four suppliers: Adimmune, TTY Biopharm, Medigen Vaccine Biologics and Sanofi.
The CDC urged the public to visit its Web site or call the 1922 hotline for more information on where and how to get a free vaccine shot.

A cat named Mikan (蜜柑) has brought in revenue of more than NT$10 million (US$305,390) for the Kaohsiung MRT last year.
