Same-day non-reserved tickets for the high-speed rail (HSR) may now be purchased through the T-EX mobile app, although the customer must be at a station to make a purchase, Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp announced on Monday.
Passengers may purchase non-reserved tickets on the T-EX mobile app starting from Monday after updating to version 6.60, the company said.
To purchase a ticket, the customer must be at a station and turn on bluetooth functionality, it said.

After selecting the “Same-day non-reserved ticket” option, the departure station should be automatically selected, it said.
A QR code will be provided after purchasing the ticket through the app, which may be used immediately to board the train, it added.
Previously, non-reserved tickets could only be purchased in person for same-day travel.
The company advised standing near a ticketing window, automated ticketing machine or entrance gate when purchasing a ticket.
Only one one-way ticket may be purchased at a time, it added.

Firefighters are working to put out a fire on Taipei’s Yangmingshan (陽明山) reported earlier this morning. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Taipei Fire Department said it received a report of a fire at Xiaoyoukeng (小油坑) at 11:17am, dispatching four command vehicles, 16 firetrucks, one ambulance and 72 personnel.
