Former New Power Party legislator Huang Kuo-chang (黃國昌) and fitness celebrity Holger Chen (陳之漢) yesterday said they would hold a rally in front of the Presidential Office Building in Taipei on July 16 to protest what they say is collusion between Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) officials and criminals.
“We can no longer stand the corrupt situation in which police are fighting crime, while politicians in the upper levels of government dine with gangsters,” Huang told a news conference in front of the Presidential Office Building.
Huang urged people to “voice our anger” by joining him in the protest.

Chen said that he supported the DPP in 2019 when it asked voters to give it another four years in power.
“But now seven years after President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) was first elected into office in 2016, I see the DPP has detached itself from its talk back then about housing justice and judicial reform,” he said.
He urged the Tsai administration to keep its campaign promises.
“I hope DPP politicians search their conscience,” he said.
In the past, many DPP politicians were eager to join Chen’s livestreams, Huang said.
He said he hopes the DPP would not attack Chen and set him up as a foe just because he is now critical of the Tsai administration due to its governance.
