Rosenberger personally accompanied President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) during her transits through New York and Los Angeles before and after the president’s tour to Central America in early April, “demonstrating the courtesy and importance the administration of US President Joe Biden places on transits by the Republic of China (Taiwan) head of state,” the ministry said.
During her last visit to Taiwan from April 18 to 23, Rosenberger met with Tsai and Vice President William Lai (賴清德), as well as government ministers.
She also attended the American Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan’s annual Hsieh Nien Fan banquet in a demonstration of the importance Washington attaches to its economic ties with Taiwan, Tsai said at the time.
The visit comes less than a week after Taiwan and the US signed the first agreement under the US-Taiwan Initiative on 21st-Century Trade, at which Rosenberger was present.
