The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) yesterday reported 32,520 new COVID-19 infections, including 34 imported cases, and 76 deaths from the disease.
The deceased ranged in age from their 20s to their 90s, and all but eight had underlying health issues, while 43 were not fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the CECC said.
The youngest death was a woman in her 20s who had received three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, said Centers for Disease Control Deputy Director-General Chuang Jen-hsiang (莊人祥), who is the CECC’s spokesman.

The woman had congenital heart disease and was diagnosed with COVID-19 on Oct. 14, Chuang said in a video statement, adding that the woman died on Tuesday due to pneumonia and psychogenic shock.
The CECC also reported 83 cases of COVID-19 classified as severe and 184 as moderate.
Among the severe cases is a 13-year-old boy who tested positive for COVID-19 on Oct. 9, it said, adding that the boy was on Monday rushed to a hospital after developing a severe headache.
A computed tomography scan found that he had intracranial hemorrhaging and high blood pressure, it said.
The boy underwent surgery on Tuesday, Chuang said, adding that his condition has improved and he was on Thursday transferred out of intensive care.
The boy might have been born with an arteriovenous malformation, an abnormal connection between arteries and veins, as his intracranial hemorrhaging was unlikely to have been triggered by COVID-19, although that has not been ruled out yet, he said.
