Taiwan’s Tseng Yu-ching on Tuesday night scored twice without a hit, while pitcher Lu Yu-ting held Venezuela to just three hits in the first four innings of Taiwan’s 3-0 victory in the rain-delayed final group game of the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup in Shaoxing, China.
The opener of the Group B game was delayed by 20 minutes and again for 30 minutes in the bottom of the fifth inning, shortly after Tseng put World No. 3 Taiwan on the board.
After four scoreless innings in which Yu allowed just three hits, second baseman Tseng was walked by Villegas Rodriguez in the top of the fifth. Tseng did not stay there long, before reaching second off a sacrifice bunt by right-fielder Huang Bo-rui.

With center-field Chiu Hsin at bat, Tseng then stole third base, before scoring off a wild pitch.
The game stayed quiet until the top of the seventh, when Tseng was again walked to first, this time by Castillo Reyes, Venezuela’s sixth pitcher of the night. Huang then hit a double, sending Tseng into third, which was followed by a double from Chiu that put Tseng and Huang across home plate to set the final score 3-0.

Currently, the WBC mandates that pitchers deliver a pitch every 18 seconds with the bases empty and 15 seconds with runners on base. The issue was raised during a pre-season CPBL managers’ meeting on Tuesday by Rakuten Monkeys bench and batting
