Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday came from a goal down to draw 1-1 at home in a feisty match with Werder Bremen as both sides finished a man down.
Frankfurt had the better of the opening half, Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush twice forcing desperate saves from Bremen goalkeeper Michael Zetterer.
The hosts survived a handball penalty call early in the second half, with a video review ruling against punishing Milos Veljkovic, despite contact with the arm.

Frankfurt’s stay of execution was brief, with Veljkovic pouncing after home goalkeeper Kevin Trapp parried a free-kick and slotting in the opener after 62 minutes.
Seemingly on course for their first win since the middle of February, Bremen were reduced to 10 men after 73 minutes when Jens Stage saw straight red for a brutal challenge on Jean-Matteo Bahoya.
The hosts equalized just four minutes later, Tuta expertly heading over a helpless Zetterer.

The home side had the wind in their sails, but hopes of victory were dashed in the final minute of regulation time, with Tuta emulating Stage’s rough challenge and seeing red after sinking his studs into Felix Agu’s heel.
Frankfurt midfielder Mario Goetze told DAZN that he was disappointed with the result.
“That doesn’t really help anyone. We really wanted the three points, but conceded that annoying goal,” he said.

US Sassuolo’s hopes of avoiding relegation from Serie A were dealt a blow in stoppage-time on Friday when they gave up a two-goal lead and drew 2-2 with bottom-of-the-table US Salernitana 1919.

Sassuolo started the night second from bottom and took a two-goal lead thanks largely to Albanian winger Nedim Bajrami.
Armand Lauriente converted Bajrami’s pass to make it 1-0 after 37 minutes and Bajrami doubled their lead on halftime.
Antonio Candreva got one back from the penalty spot for Salernitana in the 57th minute and just when it looked like Sassuolo would take all three points and move out of the relegation zone, Giulio Maggiore equalized.
Salernitana remained on the bottom of the table, 10 points adrift of Sassuolo.
They are facing almost certain relegation.
Sassuolo moved to 25 points, equal with Frosinone Calcio and Empoli, both of whom have a game in hand.

OSC Lille on Friday moved into third place in Ligue 1 after a 3-1 victory over a faltering Olympique de Marseille.
The win took Lille above AS Monaco on goal difference and to within a point of second-placed Brest. They have not lost a league game at home since September last year.
Jonathan David opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 53 minutes to take his season tally to 15, second only to Kylian Mbappe in the Ligue 1 scoring chart.
Remy Cabella made it two, and although Ismaily’s own goal gave Marseille a glimmer of hope, Gabriel Gudmundsson restored Lille’s two-goal advantage in the 83rd minute.

Taiwan, currently ranked second in the world in the World Baseball Softball Confederation rankings, are favorites to come out of the group, the MLB said in an article announcing the matchups. Last year, Taiwan finished in a five-way tie in their group with two wins and two losses, but finished last on tiebreakers after giving
North Korea’s FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup-winning team on Saturday received a heroes’ welcome back in the capital, Pyongyang, with hundreds of people on the streets to celebrate their success. They had defeated Spain on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the U17 World Cup final in the Dominican Republic on Nov. 3. It was the second global title in two months for secretive North Korea — largely closed off to the outside world; they also lifted the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in September. Officials and players’ families gathered at Pyongyang International Airport to wave flowers and North Korea flags as the
For King Faisal, a 20-year-old winger from Ghana, the invitation to move to Brazil to play soccer “was a dream.” “I believed when I came here, it would help me change the life of my family and many other people,” he said in Sao Paulo. For the past year and a half, he has been playing on the under-20s squad for Sao Paulo FC, one of South America’s most prominent clubs. He and a small number of other Africans are tearing across pitches in a country known as the biggest producer and exporter of soccer stars in the world, from Pele to Neymar. For
Coco Gauff of the US on Friday defeated top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka 7-6 (7/4), 6-3 to set up a showdown with Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen in the final of the WTA Finals, while in the doubles, Taiwan’s Chan Hao-ching was eliminated. Gauff generated six break points to Belarusian Sabalenka’s four and built on early momentum in the opening set’s tiebreak that she carried through to the second set. She is the youngest player at 20 to make the final at the WTA Finals since Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki in 2010. Zheng earlier defeated Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic 6-3, 7-5 to book
