Losing at Serie A leaders Inter can be forgiven, a defeat at home to Udinese less so. Juventus were booed off the field on Monday after they lost 1-0 at home to the relegation-threatened team.
Juve’s title hopes were left in tatters at the Allianz Stadium in Turin after Lautaro Giannetti scored the only goal of the game in the 25th minute. Inter now have a seven-point lead and a game in hand at the top of Serie A.
Argentine defender Giannetti’s strike was his first since signing for Udinese last month and gave his team just their third league win of the season.

“He is a silent leader, he speaks little and hits a lot,” Udinese manager Gabriele Cioffi told Sky Sport.
“He brought a lot to our dressing room in terms of serenity and management. Exactly what we were missing, because we are a young team.”
Udinese are three points above the relegation zone after consigning disappointing Juve to their second straight defeat after last weekend’s narrow loss at Inter.
“Unfortunately it’s not a great period for us right now,” Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri said. “We need to get our focus back, because we still need to get a lot more points if we’re going to qualify for the [UEFA] Champions League.”
Juve, missing injured striker Dusan Vlahovic, can have no complaints as they created very little, leaving r home fans frustrated at the poor performance and their team’s wilting title challenge.
The closest Juve came to equalizing was near the hour mark when Arkadiusz Milik nodded in from a corner, but the goal was ruled out for Federico Chiesa’s cross going out of play.
A first home defeat of the season for Allegri’s side could hardly have come at a better time for Inter, who beat Roma 4-2 on Saturday. The league leaders have a tough run of fixtures, including Atletico Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League and their game in hand with Atalanta, coming up over the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, Juve are now looking over their shoulders as AC Milan are just a point behind them in third thanks to a 1-0 win over SSC Napoli on Sunday night.

It was a cherished win for Griekspoor, who had lost five straight matches — including four last year — to the German. That included a five-setter

Five-time champion Novak Djokovic on Saturday tumbled out of the Indian Wells ATP Masters, falling in his first match to lucky loser Botic van de Zandschulp as two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz advanced. “No excuses for a poor performance,” 24-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic said after 37 unforced errors in a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 defeat. “It doesn’t feel great when you play this way on the court,” he said. “But congratulations to my opponent — just a bad day in the office, I guess, for me.” Djokovic is just the latest in Van de Zandschulp’s string of superstar victims. Manchester United on Thursday settled for a 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad in the first leg of their Europa League round-of-16 tie. The Europa League could be a way for United to finish the season with a trophy after crashing out of the FA Cup on Sunday. A spot in the quarter-finals is to be on the line at Old Trafford in the second leg on Thursday next
