Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker Kylian Mbappe on Saturday won a record fifth straight French golden boot, while Lionel Messi was booed during his final game for the team.
There was little riding on the game itself after PSG wrapped up a record 11th Ligue 1 title on May 28.
Mbappe’s goal in a 3-2 loss to Clermont Foot 63 finished his league tally on 29 and made him the top scorer for the fifth time, tied with French great Jean-Pierre Papin and retired Argentine strikers Carlos Bianchi and Delio Onnis.

French champions PSG and second-placed RC Lens qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League next season and third-placed Olympique de Marseille earned a spot in the third qualifying round of the lucrative European competition.
Meanwhile, PSG supporters booed Messi when the announcer read his name on a warm evening. A few minutes later, Messi walked onto the field with a smile on his face, holding his three children’s hands before the team photograph and kissing them on their foreheads before kickoff.
“I would like to thank the club, the city of Paris and its people for these two years. I wish you all the best for the future,” Messi told the club Web site.
In two seasons at PSG, Messi won two French leagues and the Trophee des Champions, and notched 32 goals and 35 assists in all competitions.
