Qingqing: Huahua, the day after tomorrow is Thanksgiving. My American friends invited me to their house for the Thanksgiving dinner, and I’d like you to come with me.
Huahua: Sure! I’ve never participated in any Thanksgiving-related activities, so it’ll be a good chance to broaden my horizons.
Qingqing: Great! My friends said they would be having turkey, pumpkin pie, and some authentic American food.
Huahua: I’ve never had turkey, so this will be a special experience. But who are we supposed to be thankful for on Thanksgiving?
Qingqing: I heard it’s to give thanks to the Indigenous peoples of America, the Native Americans, who helped the new immigrants from England, which is how Thanksgiving began.
Huahua: I only know that in Western countries, Thanksgiving is also a big day for family reunions.
Qingqing: Exactly. The next day, they can participate in Black Friday together, where everyone goes shopping like crazy.
Huahua: I’m more interested in the food; we can talk about shopping later.
