Using advanced technology, this zoo features realistic 3D holographic images of animals, including a life-sized whale. This pioneering facility allows visitors to virtually explore African plains, underwater worlds, rainforest canopies, Arctic landscapes, and even prehistoric settings with dinosaurs.

Designed by Axiom Holographics, a technology company based in Brisbane, the zoo enables visitors to see lifelike animals crafted from laser light. Visitors wear special glasses, which are unlike the red-and-green colored lenses for a 3D movie or normal virtual reality headsets. Instead, the position-tracked glasses feature a graphics generator that creates a unique image for each eye. The results are virtual animals that seem to walk beside wearers when they move around. The zoo also exhibits 4D effects that can simulate wind, smell, and differences in temperature to make the visitors’ experience even more immersive.
The Hologram Zoo is roughly 1,500 square meters in size, with two tunnels that are nearly 20 meters each in length and equipped with large screens on three sides.
