Are you ready to dive into an intricate game of strategy with “Rummikub?” This game, which blends rummy, mahjong and dominoes, is sure to keep you hooked.
The story of Rummikub began in Romania in the 1930s, during the country’s communist regime, when card games were banned as an indulgence. Ephraim Hertzano, a Romanian-born Jew and toothbrush manufacturer, had access to plastics and used them to create colored tiles that would act as playing cards in a rummy-like game. Initially, Hertzano only made the game for his friends, but after immigrating to Israel with his family after World War II, he began to sell it more widely, and Rummikub was born. Today, Rummikub has become a worldwide sensation, with millions of players. There’s even the Rummikub World Championships, held every three years.
The game is designed for two to four players and requires a Rummikub set. This comprises 104 tiles with numbers and colors (number one to thirteen in four different colors, two sets of each), and two joker tiles that can substitute for any number or color. At the beginning of the game, each player starts with 14 tiles, and the remaining tiles are placed in a pool for drawing. Players take turns drawing tiles. The objective of Rummikub is to be the first player to get rid of all of their tiles. Only by forming sets and runs can players win the game. Sets consist of three or four tiles of the same number but different colors, while runs consist of three or more tiles of the same color in numerical order. The game’s unique feature is that players can manipulate existing sets and runs on the table to create new combinations, which adds a layer of strategy and complexity not found in other tile-based games.

ˇ What do you think of the movie? χ How do you like the movie? χ How do you think of the movie? 註︰What do you think of = What is your opinion of。 think 的受詞是 what,不能用 how。 2. ˇ Which singer do you think is the best? χ Do you think which singer is the best? 註︰英語中 which singer 似乎是 do you think 的受詞,實則 do you think 是插入語,其他例子如下: 你以為他喜歡誰?
