"If Beijing doesn't redress June 4, we can't talk about reunification," Ma said in an interview with Hong Kong's Cable TV, part of which was broadcast yesterday morning.
"If the June 4 verdict can be reversed, it definitely reflects that mainland China has new thoughts on human value and human rights. I think this is what will put Taiwanese people at ease," he said.
Ma said he will continue to attend annual rallies to commemorate the Tiananmen protests and doesn't think his stance will affect his relations with Beijing.
He also praised Chinese President Hu Jintao (胡錦濤) for his pragmatism and flexibility in dealing with China-Taiwan relations.

A cat named Mikan (蜜柑) has brought in revenue of more than NT$10 million (US$305,390) for the Kaohsiung MRT last year.
