The Norwegian Athletics Federation says race walker Erik Tysse has tested positive for doping and has been suspended from all competitions.
The secretary-general of the federation, Kjetil Hildeskor, said Tysse tested positive for blood booster CERA at a competition in Italy in May.
POSITIVE FOR CERA
He said an analysis at a laboratory in Rome showed both the “A” and “B” samples were positive for CERA.
At a press conference in Oslo on Tuesday, a tearful Tysse denied having used illegal drugs and questioned how the test had been analyzed.
He said he had “nothing to hide” and would fight to clear his name.
The suspension means Tysse will miss next week’s European Championships in Barcelona, Spain.
Tysse was fifth in the 50km race at the Beijing Olympics.
