National Taiwan Normal University trounced Chinese Culture University 84-62 to claim a first-ever University Basketball Association (UBA) title on Wednesday night.
A sellout home crowd at National Taiwan Normal’s Taipei campus was on hand to witness the massacre of Chinese Culture that saw the top-seeds hold Chinese Culture to a lone point through the first nine-and-a-half minutes of play on the strength of a tenacious defense before ending the first quarter with a commanding 16-3 lead.
National Taiwan Normal maintained a double-digit lead for a good part of the first half before a Lin Jin-bong-led Chinese Culture counter-attack brought the visitors to within seven at the half.
That was as close as Chinese Culture got with National Taiwan Normal turning its game up a notch as Chen Tzu-wei drained three second-half three’s to complement Wu Dai-hao’s inside attack. Wu ended the night with eleven points, four rebounds, five steals, and three blocked-shots.
