VfL Bochum lifted themselves out of the Bundesliga’s bottom three on Sunday with a 2-0 win over fellow relegation contenders Karlsruhe to pick up only their second win of the season.
Goals from defender Christian Fuchs and striker Diego Klimowicz gave Bochum three valuable points and sent them up to 15th in the table, while Karlsruhe drop into the dreaded bottom three.
Werder Bremen’s woes continued as they were humbled 2-1 by strugglers Arminia Bielefeld when Poland international striker Artur Wichniarek hit the winner just after halftime.

Despite beating Inter in the Champions League in December, Thomas Schaaf’s side have been inconsistent this season and the result leaves them 10th in the league.
Meanwhile, Bundesliga leaders Hoffenheim are waiting on the fitness of ex-Germany goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand after he went off injured during their 2-0 win over Energie Cottbus on Saturday.
Hoffenheim took over from Hamburg at the top of the table with goals by strikers Demba Ba and Boubacar Sanogo, but lost Hildebrand after 60 minutes with a groin injury on his debut for the club after joining from Valencia.
Hildebrand was injured when he collided with Cottbus captain Timo Rost.
He won the last of his seven caps in October 2007 and has returned to Germany in an effort to win back his place in the national squad.
