Mark Teixeira, Garret Anderson and Mike Napoli added solo home runs for Los Angeles, which has scored 30 runs in winning three straight.

At Toronto, Paul Byrd pitched a six-hitter to win his fourth consecutive start and Ryan Garko drove in two runs for Cleveland.
Garko, who was pulled after failing to run out a grounder in Wednesday’s loss at Tampa Bay, started at first base and went 2-for-4. He doubled home a run in the fourth and had a RBI single in Cleveland’s three-run sixth.
Byrd allowed two runs, five hits, and struck out two. He threw 93 pitches, 67 for strikes.
The Indians took advantage of a shaky start by Toronto’s pitcher Roy Halladay (13-9), who allowed four runs — one earned — and 10 hits in six and two thirds innings.

Troy Glaus hit two of the St Louis Cardinals’ four homers off Carlos Zambrano and finished with five RBIs to help beat the Chicago Cubs 12-3 on Saturday.
Skip Schumaker and Albert Pujols also homered off the Cubs’ ace, who lasted just four and a third innings, giving up nine runs and 10 hits. The four homers allowed by Zambrano were a career high.
Glaus’ second homer and 21st of the season was a three-run shot in the fifth that finished Zambrano (12-5), who suffered his first loss of the season at Wrigley Field.
Former Cubs’ reliever Todd Wellemeyer (9-4) pitched six and two thirds innings and was charged with three runs and six hits.
Mets 8, Marlins 6
At New York, Carlos Delgado hit a mammoth home run, Daniel Murphy added the first of his big league career and New York pushed Florida further back in the NL East.
Carlos Beltran homered and drove in three runs, David Wright had three hits and the Mets kept pace a game behind division leaders Philadelphia.
Jorge Cantu hit a two-run homer, the Marlins’ first in five games, and Mike Jacobs added a tying two-run shot in the sixth.
But the Mets quickly regained the lead and Scott Schoeneweis (2-2) and the bullpen hung on before Aaron Heilman finished for his second save.

The San Francisco Giants signed 18-year-old Taiwanese pitcher Yang Nien-hsi (陽念希) to a contract worth a total of US$500,000 (NT $16.39 million). At a press event in Taipei on Wednesday, Jan. 22, the Giants’ Pacific Rim Area scout Evan Hsueh (薛奕煌) presented Yang with a Giants jersey to celebrate the signing. The deal consisted of a contract worth US$450,000 plus a US$50,000 scholarship bonus. Yang, who stands at 188 centimeters tall and weighs 85 kilograms, is of Indigenous Amis descent.
