The Los Angeles Dodgers became just the fifth team in modern Major League Baseball league history to win a game in which they didn’t get a hit, defeating the crosstown Los Angeles Angels 1-0 in interleague play on Saturday.
The Angels’ Jered Weaver pitched six hitless innings and Jose Arredondo pitched the next two innings.
Since the Dodgers didn’t have to bat in the ninth, the game doesn’t qualify as a no-hitter. It was only the fifth such game since 1900, the Elias Sports Bureau said.

The only run came in the fifth inning. Dodgers rightfielder Matt Kemp reached first on what was ruled an error rather than a hit because the Angels pitcher bobbled his fielding attempt.
Kemp stole second and continued to third on a throwing error, then scored on a sacrifice fly.
White Sox 6, Cubs 5
In Chicago, Carlos Quentin hit a tiebreaking homer leading off the bottom of the seventh as the White Sox downed the Cubs in an all-Chicago showdown.

Quentin hit an 0-2 pitch for an opposite-field home run for his 18th homer of the season to snap the 5-5 tie.
Brewers 5, Twins 1
In Minneapolis, Minnesota’s 10-game winning streak came to an end at the hands of Milwaukee.

Yankees 3, Mets 2

In Kansas City, Missouri, the home team’s six-game winning streak was ended by St. Louis.
Rick Ankiel hit a two-run home run for the Cardinals, helping rookie pitcher Mitchell Boggs remain unbeaten.

Diamondbacks 6, Marlins 2
In Miami, Arizona beat Florida for the first time in five tries this season.
Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Webb returned to his All-Star form, striking out eight and giving up only two runs in six innings for Arizona, which ended a three-game skid.

Center fielder Chris Young’s triple in the sixth drove in two runs, giving Arizona a 5-1 lead, and he finished with three RBIs.
Giants 1, Athletics 0
In Oakland, California, San Francisco snapped a seven-game losing streak against Bay Area rival Oakland.
Giants starter Tim Lincecum outpitched Justin Duchscherer in a fine matchup between two likely All-Stars, while Randy Winn drove in the only run of the game.
Lincecum struck out 11 for his third game with 10 or more Ks this year and the fifth of his career. Oakland, which allowed only eight runs during its longest winning streak against the Giants, had won 10 of the past 11 meetings between the teams.

Cueto constantly worked out of trouble after giving up five hits, walking three and hitting two batters over 6 1-3 innings.
