US player Jeff Maggert sank four birdies through nine holes on Friday to grab the lead at the rain-hit USPGA PODS Championship.
"Birdie-birdie start was more than I could ask for, and then I made a nice putt on the fourth hole there for birdie," Maggert said. "It was a good start."
Maggert also had one bogey through nine holes of Friday's second round to move to eight-under overall and a three-shot lead over Kenny Perry and DJ Trahan.
Perry and Trahan were tied for second place at five-under overall. Perry was at even-par for the round through nine holes, while Trahan had two birdies over his first seven.
Bad weather has plagued the first two days of this US$5.3 million event. Thursday's opening round was suspended owing to rain with 71 golfers still on the course.
The rain was back on Friday, as 82 golfers still had not completed the second round when the siren sounded to halt play for the day.
Bart Bryant, the first-round co-leader, was tied for fourth at four-under with Sean O'Hair and Jeff Overton.
South Africa's Ernie Els is at four-over 146 after firing a 73 on Friday. Els, who won the Honda Classic last week, is likely to miss the cut.
Els admitted the weather had a factor on his score.
"It's a very tough, demanding golf. I didn't quite have it," Els said.
"Before the rain delay [on Thursday], I felt really comfortable. I was actually striking the ball great. I wasn't missing putts. "Ever since the rain delay [on Friday], I didn't quite have my rhythm and not a lot of touch on the greens. I had quite a few three-putts," he said.

Lazio said that they had “terminated, with immediate effect” their relationship with Bernabe “due to the seriousness of his conduct,” adding that they were “shocked” by the images. The Serie A club added that Bernabe’s dismissal

I’m allergic, I guess,” she added. The bites “flared up and swelled up really a
