Spanish leaders Real Madrid saw their advantage over bitter rivals Barcelona slashed to just two points in La Liga after they were surprisingly beaten 1-0 at home in bizarre fashion by Getafe on Sunday.
Barcelona had earlier thrashed bottom club Levante 5-1 to give a clear sign that they are determined to keep up the pressure on Real, who witnessed the end of their 100 percent home record in the league this season.
However, Real will reflect on the fact that they only had themselves to blame for the defeat, their third loss in the last eight days.

Arjen Robben thought he had put Real in the lead after 65 minutes but as the Real players started to celebrate referee Arturo Dauden Ibanez ruled that captain Raul Gonzalez was offside before he passed to his Dutch team mate.
Getafe quickly took the ensuing free kick and executed a swift counter-attack against their opponents under-manned defense.
Franceso Casquero broke free and laid the ball off to Manu Del Moral who, in turn, passed to Ikechuckwu Uche and the Nigerian coolly slotted the ball home with his right foot from 10m out.
Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o scored a second half hat-trick which helped put his club back in the title race.
Spanish international playmaker Xavi Hernandez got Barca off to a good start with his third goal in four games after 14 minutes.
Two Levante defenders tried to cut out an Eto'o pass but, in the melee, the ball found its way to Xavi who made no mistake from just inside the penalty area.
Levante briefly silenced the Nou Camp crowd when they equalized from a Mustapha Riga penalty after 40 minutes, when Gianluca Zambrotta clumsily handled the ball.
Argentina's Lionel Messi restored Barca's lead three minutes later when Xavi put the ball through to the mesmerising Argentine winger who placed his low shot past Levante goalkeeper Vladan Kujovic.
Eto'o then moved into overdrive after the break with goals after 55 and 61 minutes, both coming from Messi passes.
The Cameroon striker completed his first league hat-trick at the Catalan club by mis-hitting an unselfish pass by Bojan Krkic into the net two minutes before the whistle.
BUMRAH WATCH: Captain Jasprit Bumrah left the SCG for scans for back spasms and although he returned to the ground, there was no word on if he would play Rishabh Pant’s blistering counterattack yesterday capped a chaotic second day of the fifth and final Test between Australia and India, with 15 wickets falling and the star bowler of the series leaving the Sydney Cricket Ground with an ambulance escort. Yet the Border-Gavaskar trophy still remains very much in the balance as India reached 141-6, holding a 145-run lead over Australia with three days remaining. “Low-scoring games like this, it just heightens the pressure within it, so long way still to go,” Australia coach Andrew McDonald said. “There’s gonna be plenty of cricket, so we’ll see what happens.” Australia were bowled out for
Elena Rybakina’s Kazakhstan yesterday dumped defending champions Germany out of the United Cup with world No. 2 Alexander Zverev sidelined by an arm injury barely a week away from the Australian Open. In Sydney, women’s world No. 2 Iga Swiatek led Poland into the last eight by winning a rematch of her 2023 French Open final against Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic. World No. 3 Gauff swept past Croatia’s Donna Vekic 6-4, 6-2 to avenge a loss at the Paris Olympics, while Fritz took care of Borna Coric 6-3, 6-2 in searing Perth heat. That was enough to put the Americans — last year’s winners — into a last-eight clash with China today, while Elena Rybakina’s Kazakhstan today are to meet defending champions Germany, led by Alexander Zverev, in the other Perth quarter-final. In Sydney, the in-form
