The KMT's Lien-Siew ticket (連蕭配) is the front-runner in the upcoming election in most areas of the country, KMT campaign manager Jason Hu (胡自強) said yesterday.
Hu told a Taipei meeting of journalists that the only regions where extra help is needed are the country's most densely populated regions, the cities of Taipei and Kaohsiung.
Acting Speaker of the National Assembly Chen Chin-jang (陳金讓) campaigned yesterday for the Lien-Siew ticket on Kinmen island, according to reports.
He also attended a spring worshipping ceremony for the Chen-clan Association (陳姓宗親會) and then visited several township offices on the island.
Chen told Kinmen residents that Lien is the only candidate who has the ability to maintain national security and national prosperity.
Lien Fang Yu (連方瑀), Lien's wife, was also on the campaign trail yesterday, stumping for her husband in various military dependents' villages in Kaohsiung County.
She was accompanied by Koahsiung County Councilor Lu Shumei (陸淑美) as she went door-to-door to solicit votes. She said that if her husband is elected, he would take special care of veterans's needs.
