The Rio 2016 Olympic Games are set to open today (tomorrow Taiwan time). A total of 58 Taiwanese athletes will compete in 18 sports in Rio. ELTA TV has obtained the right to air the Olympic Games in Taiwan, and Public Television Service (PTS) has announced that it will join it to broadcast the games.
The games will be available in high-definition on PTS Channel 1, 2 and 3. At 7am tomorrow, PTS will broadcast the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games live. The crew of Good Morning Taiwan will help the broadcast team with simultaneous interpreting services from English into Chinese. Sign language service will also be available for the hearing-impaired.
Formosa TV and Chunghwa Telecom Co. will also cooperate with ELTA TV for the coverage. This will allow viewers to watch the games on television or “multimedia on demand” (MOD), and on their computers, tablets or smartphones. Those who are not subscribers to Chunghwa Telecom Co’s services can still enjoy a seven-day free trial. (CNA, TRANSLATED BY EDDY CHANG)
