From writing “Dreamseeker” with correction fluid on them to dressing them up with a variety of ornaments, in the past many students have given a lot of thought to their schoolbags. Pingtung’s Laiyi Senior High School discovered that its students often wear their schoolbags in reverse. In order to engender a sense of pride in the students when they wear their schoolbags, Principal Chien Chih-ming teamed up with Aboriginal artist Chiu Wen-hsiung to design a new schoolbag, which has a black background and features earthenware pots and pit vipers, symbols of Paiwan culture. This new schoolbag, which is rich in “Aboriginality,” is due to be launched this year.
“Schoolbags with a blue background and white characters on them are really dull,” opine the students. The old bags have big characters showing the school name, which look pretty grotesque in the eyes of many students, and that is why they have worn them in reverse. On the other hand, the newly designed bags have Aboriginal totems, which look very stylish to the students, and look much better than the old bags.
The old bags, which have a blue background and white characters and which have been used for 47 years, will become history this year. The school says that nearly 90 percent of the students are Paiwan Aborigines, which is why the school has teamed up with Aboriginal artists. They hope that by letting the students carry their Aboriginal culture around with them, they will feel proud to be members of Paiwan and Laiyi Senior High School.

Chien says the old bags look somewhat boring, whereas the new bags feature earthenware pots and pit vipers, which make the bags one of a kind in Taiwan. Even though they are not officially launched yet, the students have been looking forward to them. Designing new bags is just the beginning. Currently the school is also planning on reforming the school’s uniforms and sportswear with the aim of making Aboriginal high school richer in “Aboriginality.”

You enter an old-fashioned detective’s office. The door locks with a click as a radio buzzes: “Rookie detectives, a priceless diamond is missing! Solve the case in one hour.” The room is filled with clues — photographs, coded messages and secret compartments. As the grandfather clock ticks, you and your friends must work to unlock the secrets. This is what escape rooms are all about — immersive adventure games where you solve puzzles and escape the themed setting within a time limit. The concept of “escape rooms” dates back to early first-person video games. In 1988, John Wilson introduced
People desire a sense of purpose in their lives, but they often remain idle unless they have a clear reason to act. This concept is illustrated by the retirement paradox. People work hard to prepare for a future without work but find life meaningless after achieving that goal. A study was carried out to determine if a reason, even a minor one, could encourage idle people to take action. __1__ Upon finishing the first, they were instructed to drop it off at a location either right outside the room or at a spot farther away, which would take around
