It is supposed to be the happiest day of any woman’s life, but an Indian air force official decided he could upstage his future wife — by dropping in from 2,100m.
Shisir Mishra, an accomplished skydiver, jumped from a helicopter and landed in a sports ground close to the bride’s home in Bhubaneswar, the capital of Orissa state.
Mishra, along with three friends, jumped free fall before opening his parachute about 100m from the ground and landing to cheers from hundreds of well-wishers at the wedding ceremony.

“The idea of doing something on the occasion of my marriage struck me after I read about a couple in Maharashtra getting married in a hot air balloon recently,” said Mishra, whose bride gifted him a bouquet on arrival.
“Not for a moment was I scared. I was sure he would make it,” bride Sweta Prusty said.
The jump was meat and drink for Mishra who previously won a place in the Indian equivalent of the Guinness World Records for jumping free fall from 4,500m with the Indian national flag in hand.

Noise pollution is a frequently underestimated environmental hazard. While hearing loss is the best-known outcome associated with noise, emerging research is uncovering how noise affects our health in other ways. From impaired memory and sleep disturbances to cardiovascular problems, the impact of noise is profound. For a start, unpleasant or excessively loud sounds can lead to stress and divert attention. Even everyday noises, such as those caused by traffic, lawnmowers, and construction work, can interfere with cognitive functions and elevate stress levels. “Our ears capture sound, but we hear with our brains,” explains Wei Sun, an audiology researcher at
