An American flew a green lawn chair suspended by giant party balloons from Oregon to Idaho earlier this month.
Kent Couch landed safely after gliding some 378km on the wind above the desert, according to the Oregonian newspaper.
“He’s crazy,” said his wife, Susan. “It’s never been a dull moment since I married him.”

Couch left from the parking lot of a gas station he owns in Bend, Oregon. He landed in a horse pasture outside of Cambridge, Idaho.
“If I had the time and money and people, I’d do this every weekend,” the Oregonian reported Couch as saying. “Things just look different from up there. You’re moving so slowly. The best thing is the peace, the serenity.
“You can hear a dog bark at 15,000 feet (4,500m).”
When Couch wanted to go higher, he dumped some of the 170 liters of cherry Kool-Aid he brought with him. When he wanted to go lower, he popped some of the 150 helium-filled balloons that took him aloft.
He traveled at about 32km per hour.
The journey was Couch’s third balloon flight. Couch was inspired by a TV show about a 1982 lawn chair flight over Los Angeles by truck driver Larry Walters.

People desire a sense of purpose in their lives, but they often remain idle unless they have a clear reason to act. This concept is illustrated by the retirement paradox. People work hard to prepare for a future without work but find life meaningless after achieving that goal. A study was carried out to determine if a reason, even a minor one, could encourage idle people to take action. __1__ Upon finishing the first, they were instructed to drop it off at a location either right outside the room or at a spot farther away, which would take around
