Many people are worried about the amount of waste caused by Christmas celebrations. This year some people have said they are worried about Christmas decorations.
Traditionally families in the UK would reuse their decorations year after year. On Jan. 6 families would carefully wrap and store their decorations. They would be put away until the following year.
However, over the last few years people have started following Christmas fashions. Each year different colors are in fashion. Last year fashionable ornaments were silver, this year they are antique gold and platinum.

Stuart Bond of the WWF says that if a decoration is looked after it could last 30 to 50 years. Instead people are throwing them away each year. This causes problems with unnecessary garbage. Plus lots of energy is wasted making new decorations each year.
A popular store to buy Christmas decorations in the UK is Woolworths.

Infectious disease outbreaks, whether they be widespread like Influenza or fairly geographically restricted like Ebola, may be difficult to prevent . . . if we can forecast outbreak potential in time, public health officials and governments can preemptively prepare for a potential outbreak event. 《世界雜誌》上有位作者提到 preemptive 和 preparation 的差異,她說 preemptive 的弦外之音是 heading off something undesirable(避凶/避災): “Preemptive” and “preparation” both refer to work done ahead
