Lee had led a panel of ballistic experts to Taiwan in April to visit the crime scene and collaborate with officials at the invitation of Lu.
Lee has confirmed that Chen had indeed suffered a bullet wound across his abdomen, although opposition parties alleged that the shooting might have been a political scheme to help boost Chen's chances of re-election.
The forensic investigator had also said that the possibility that the wound had been self-inflicted or that the attack had been staged was minimal.
With only physical evidence at his disposal, Lee had said that it would have been easier to solve the case if the crime scene had been better preserved.
