The pan-blue camp refiled its lawsuit contesting President Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁) and Vice President Annette Lu's (呂秀蓮) winning of the presidential election late last night.
The refile was not made till 11pm last night as the pan-blue camp was considering whether to refilling the two suits together , said Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) Spokesman Justin Chou (
The lawsuit annulling the election is yet to be filed.
"We are still preparing the necessary documents at this moment," said Chou before the suit was filed.
He said the pan-blue camp would first file its suit demanding a recount.
"We decided to do this because we have more evidence for the first case," Chou said.
People First Party (PFP) Taipei City Councilwoman Huang Shan-shan (黃珊珊), who serves as one of the KMT-PFP alliance's lawyers, said on Sunday that the alliance had all the necessary documents ready and would refile the two suits at the Taiwan High Court first thing yesterday morning.
A delay in filing the lawsuit would have an effect on when the recount of the ballots will start.
According to the Taiwan High Court's schedule, if the pan-blue camp had refiled the suits by yesterday morning, the recount could have started tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the High Court has said that it would recount all the ballots, instead of having a partial recount, although judges are authorized to do so.
